Episode #3: Understanding Gratitude
2

It’s time for the 3rd installment of the podcast series with Dr. Kate Lund. In this episode, we discuss GRATITUDE and how you can transform it from a tool to a state of being—making it even more impactful. You can listen to the full podcast at any of the regular sites, including: Spotify, Apple, and Amazon. As always, a big thank you to Dr. Kate for being such a welcoming host… And thank you for listening!

If you’d like to read more about Gratitude, I’ve provided a brief excerpt below. Or, you can find the full book and the rest of the UNDERSTANDING series here.

How Do We Express Gratitude? (An excerpt from Understanding Gratitude)

Ask anyone to define what an expression of gratitude is and you will come up with many similar answers, as well as a lot of different ones. This is because gratitude is both unique and universal. It’s universal in our understanding of it when we see it in action, but it’s inherently unique to each individual, as well as individual cultures, traditions, and practices.

So, how do we express gratitude? Is there a universal expression that we all understand, even one that comes from animals? And, perhaps more importantly, how do we receive gratitude? Can it ever backfire? Giving and receiving gratitude can vary from one person to another. Accepting that simple truth is key to understanding how we express—and accept—gratitude.

We all benefit from engaging with gratitude. As much as it helps to improve our personal situation, it also helps to improve our lives and the lives of those around us.

Understanding gratitude is, in some ways, about understanding how to create and live a better life, both individually and collectively.
