One of my favorite life hacks involves bedding. Yes, you heard that right. Bedding. And it’s so simple, you won’t believe what a difference it can make. Ready?
Size up your cover linens.
Basically, this means that you put king-size covers on queen beds, queen-size covers on full beds and full-size (or queen) covers on twin beds. The extra material allows for a comfier sleep, because you do less battle with the covers—especially if you share a bed with someone. The way the covers hang over the side of the bed can also create a slightly “weighted” feel, which is also something that has proven to encourage deep sleep (think: weighted blankets).
Unfortunately, there isn’t really a larger size you can easily purchase for a king-size bed, but there is a way to get a similar result.
When I was in college, I had my bed cover “made” from basic sheet sets. In short, I bought two twin-size sheet sets that were identical then took the top sheets to a tailor who sewed them together with a little extra fabric. I made my own duvet cover, and it was larger than anything I could have bought! It cost me very little to do this, and you can do it, too. Just take two king-size top sheets to a tailor and ask them to make a duvet cover while adding an extra 6-10 inches all around, either from fabric you provide, or something similar they have on-hand.
Trust me when I say this tip will be one you’ll enjoy and probably want to share with your friends.
